Snorkeling

Egmont Key offers the opportunity to go snorkeling in clear Gulf water. While snorkeling, watch for dolphins, manatee, tropical fish, sea turtles, and other sea life, and sea birds and gopher tortoises on the island. Shelling and sunbathing on the beautiful beaches and exploring thegun batteries of Fort Dade, established in 1899 for the Spanish American War, and the ghost town inland that once housed U.S. Army personnel, enhance the adventure.
